A race Willie Mullins has taken for the last five years, including with subsequent Gold Cup winners Galopin Des Champs and Gaelic Warrior. He is four-handed here, with Albert Bartlett disappointment Doctor Steinberg seemingly the selected, renewing rivalry with the second and third in that race Fruit De Mer and The Passing Wife, the former favoured to come out on top. However, the trio are taken on here by the sole mare in the race ZANOOSH, who has never stopped improving and who could do so again at this longer trip. [Alan Hewison] Show less
Spotlight: Rapidly improving mare is seeking a six-timer, notable wins being 2m7f Grade 3 Limerick mares' novice and early this month in 2m4f Fairyhouse Grade 1 mares' novice, leading last; all wins have been on soft/heavy but gives the impression she'll handle this better ground and could have more to offer at this longer trip.
Spotlight: Point-to-point winner landed odds on hurdles debut in 2m3f Naas maiden and has contested Grade 1 novices' since, plenty keen when third over 2m4f at same venue and much better form in 22-runner 3m Albert Bartlett, travelling much better and would have gone very close but for hanging left run-in when beaten 1.5l (soft); that probably wasn't the strongest renewal but improving 6yo has to be considered a major player here.
Spotlight: Bumper winner has taken really well to hurdling, winning first three starts over a trip, notably Grade 2 Navan novice and Grade 1 Leopardstown contest (2m6f) at the DRF (beating Kazansky 8l) on heavy; much too keen and ultimately pulled up when favourite for Grade 1 Albert Bartlett on latest and hood now fitted; encounters much better ground now.
Spotlight: Steadily progressive since upped in trip, winning 2m3f maiden here before considerably better form in 3m Albert Bartlett last month, only conceding second late on to Fruit De Mer having led at the last; handles this better ground and easier finish could suit.
Spotlight: Point/bumper winner; won easily under no-nonsense rides from the front at Fairyhouse (2m4f, yielding) and here (2m3f, heavy) but met his match over 3m in Albert Bartlett when fifth (Fruit De Mer second, The Passing Wife third); clearly needs to find more.
Spotlight: Won 2m maiden here in January (soft-to-heavy) and excellent run following month when favourite in very competitive 19-runner 2m Leopardstown handicap, going clear with winner from last; took another step forward when third to a top-class novice in 2m4f Grade 2 Fairyhouse novice on latest (Generous Risk second) in first-time cheekpieces, despite slipped saddle; good chance he'll improve again at 3m and don't rule out.
Spotlight: Won Nenagh maiden point-to-point last season and 2-2 over hurdles this campaign, in 2m4f Chepstow maiden (soft) and keen enough and novicey in jumping in 2m5f Newbury novices' last month (good-to-soft); big step up in grade but respected.
Spotlight: Beaten in three bumpers for Fergal O'Brien but successful on opening two hurdle runs for Willie Mullins, in 2m maiden here and ready winner of 2m6f Thurles novice (yielding); didn't seem to get home in 3m Albert Bartlett, but worth this second chance at the trip and remains a potential improver.
Spotlight: Won a bumper, maiden hurdle (2m3f) and 2m Grade 3 novice without being extended, all on good-to-yielding; acquitted himself creditably in Grade 1 Leopardstown novices', including third to stablemate Doctor Steinberg (2m6f, heavy); most recently not at same level back in trip in Grade 2 at Fairyhouse; place claims at best.
Spotlight: Leopardstown maiden winner has contested Grade 1 novices all three starts since, notably remote fifth to Doctor Steinberg at same venue and better form on latest at Aintree in 3m1f Sefton Novices' when decent fourth in first-time cheekpieces (good-to-soft); this probably a stronger race so more needed.
Spotlight: Nicely progressive on heavy ground over the winter, winning Limerick Grade 2 novice and chased home 8l winner Doctor Steinberg over 2m6f at the DRF at Leopardstown; didn't really land a blow (pulled up) in 3m Albert Bartlett on latest and others now preferred.
Spotlight: Won point-to-point for Donnchadh Doyle last March before selling for £250,000; placed in three bumpers before successful hurdles debut in 2m5f Leopardstown maiden last month, making most and going clear from last (soft); no disgrace in chasing home a top-class novice at Fairyhouse (2m4f) last time, but more needed.
Spotlight: Classy sort on the Flat, third in last year's Doncaster Cup; 9yo has had just four runs over hurdles, winning Galway maiden last summer, but pulled up on both starts since last month's return, never featuring in Albert Bartlett and again in Grade 2 Fairyhouse novice (Generous Risk second); cheekpieces tried last time persisted with.
Spotlight: Bought for £42,000 in January after winning a Tinahely maiden point-to-point (soft) and successful debut for connections in 2m4f Carlisle maiden hurdle early this month, clear with a hot favourite going to the last (good-to-soft); type to relish 3m but this a huge jump in class.
